A Brief History of Richardson

Richardson was founded in the late 1800s as a railroad town and incorporated in 1925. Its growth accelerated after World War II when major employers like Collins Radio set up shop. By the 1960s, Richardson became part of the famous Telecom Corridor, hosting technology giants and drawing a highly educated workforce.

The University of Texas at Dallas, born out of a Texas Instruments research center, became an anchor for innovation and community life.
